Authorities are investigating after a man was found shot in an El Mirage backyard.
El Mirage police say the shooting occurred at a house near Thompson Ranch and Greenway roads just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to a police spokesperson, when officers arrived at the home a 30-year-old man was found dead in the backyard.
The 50-year-old alleged shooter and deceased man are roommates, officials said. The home was described by authorities as an apartment-style home.
The person-of-interest was also taken to the hospital with an unknown shoulder injury. Authorities are still trying to determine if the shooting occurred in self-defense.
The 50-year-old has been cooperative with the investigation at this time.
