Buckeye police said they arrested three armed robbers after they crashed into a canal Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said the suspects were armed with a BB gun when they held up the Butcher and Farmer Market at 3rd Street and MC85. The three were trying to steal beer when one of the grocery store workers tried to stop them by blocking the door.
"He's like, 'Bro, I have a gun, step back.' I was like, ‘I don't care,’" said the employee who asked not to be named.
The worker told ABC15 that he pushed the crook, calling the robber’s bluff.
"There's no way he's going to kill someone for one 30 pack. They were just trying to scare us," the worker said.
The suspects eventually pulled out what looked like a real gun and pointed it at customers before taking off, police said. They drove away in an Expedition and, after being spotted by an officer, they crashed into a canal at Dean and Beloat roads, police said.
BPD is working an armed Robbery at a local grocery store. Media briefing will be at BPD 100 N Apache Rd.

Police said the suspects were stranded in the SUV over a 10-foot drop. One of them was taken to the hospital before being booked into jail.
"A bit of luck and quick work. We had the call and then apprehended the suspects in 10 minutes" Buckeye police Sgt. Jason Weeks said.
