A field worker in Buckeye alerted officials about a grenade he found along the road Sunday morning.

According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Glendale's bomb squad helped them with the call near Jackrabbit Trail and MC-85.

Glendale officials say they secured the area and recovered the item, which was in fact a grenade, in the area.

It was very rusted, old-looking and appeared to even be broken. There's no word on how long the grenade was in the area or where it came from.

Police are not looking for any suspects and do not believe it was placed there to harm anyone.

Thanks to the helpful information from the caller, responding officials were able to determine that there is no threat to the area.
