Investigators are asking for help identifying or locating a man wanted in connection with a series of robberies in the East Valley.

Police said the man is suspected of robbing Batteries Plus stores in Tempe and Gilbert and a Subway in Scottsdale between May 13 and 22.

In each robbery, authorities said the man enters the store around a half-hour before closing time and approaches the counter with a question regarding a product that's for sale. The suspect then pulls out a handgun and demands money from the register, according to a release from the Tempe Police Department.

The suspect puts the cash in his pockets and heads out the door. He is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or Native American man in his mid 30s to late 40s. He is 5' 10" or 5' 11" tall, 165 to 175 pounds with a medium to husky build. He has black hair, though it is now shaved, according to a police flyer about the suspect. He also has a small goatee.

Police said the man has worn khaki cargo shorts in all three robberies, and black flip flops with white socks in two of three.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department's non-emergency line: 480-350-8311.
