A Tempe police officer hit a suspect with their vehicle Wednesday after police say he was reaching for a gun in his waistband.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. near Calle San Angelo and Calle Batoua in the town of Guadalupe.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force was in the area looking for the suspect, who was wanted for an aggravated assault that happened on May 6.
While trying to take the suspect into custody, police say the man reached for a gun in his waistband.
Police say a Tempe officer that was part of the task force used their vehicle to hit the suspect, in order to stop him from using the gun.
The suspect was taken into custody moments later and was taken to the hospital. The suspect is expected to survive.
The suspect’s identity, and the details of the assault case have not yet been released.
