A man is now behind bars after a homeowner found the suspect inside their house holding a bag of their belongings including a handgun.

According to the Tempe Police Department, William Landfear was found around 10:30 a.m. inside a home near Baseline Road and McClintock Drive.

Police say the homeowner had arrived home and heard a loud noise; they then saw Landfear run out through a back door of the house.

The man jumped a wall and ran through an ally, but the homeowner got on a bike and chased the man down. The homeowner told Landfear to drop their belongings and Landfear told the homeowner to not call the police on him. He did drop the bag but kept running away, police said.

Police were able to later contact Landfear, and he admitted to police he committed a burglary after he owed people money. Police say Landfear took a handgun from the home.
