TEMPE, AZ — Authorities say a suspicious powder found in a utility company's mail room was determined to not be hazardous.

Hazardous materials crews from the Tempe and Phoenix fire departments responded to an SRP facility near Mill Avenue and Curry Road around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Two employees reportedly found an unknown powder in the mail room and immediately contacted emergency crews.

Tempe police said the substance was eventually determined to be a "food substance."

No employees showed any sign of a medical related issue, officials said.

Employees were evacuated from the building but have since been allowed to return.
