Tempe Police say a man who was shot by officers after walking toward them while refusing to drop a knife has died from his injuries.

According to Tempe Police Department spokesperson Lieutenant Mike Pooley, the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Sean Mould, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Police reported Monday that Mould died from his injuries.

According to Pooley, a woman called 911 saying her boyfriend would not leave their home in the 1000 block of W. Fremont Street in Tempe.

Once officers arrived, they confronted the suspect who was holding a knife. Pooley said responding officers attempted to back away from the suspect, but he ignored commands.  The officers fired two shots, striking him at least once, after he ignored their commands.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
