Social media was abuzz this weekend after parents of students at Corona del Sol High School began circulating rumors of a school shooting.

Tempe Police and Tempe Union High School District both quickly dismissed the threat as “not credible.” However, Tempe Police will boost patrols around and on the campus Monday morning.

A letter to parents from the school’s principal says the rumor stems from a fight last Friday between students. Tempe Police immediately investigated the incident and identified those involved.

Nate Kleve adds in the letter that “The safety of our students and staff is our top priority and we are grateful for our partnership with the Tempe Police Department.”
