Police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a male Chinese ASU student.

The incident happened January 3 at the AMC theater near 5th Street and Ash Avenue.

Authorities say the male suspect and male victim were arguing over seating at the theater when the suspect struck the victim in the face causing serious injuries.  The victim was treated for his injuries and the suspect left the area in an unknown direction.

The 20-year-old Chinese victim was able to help create a composite of the suspect. He is described as an Asian male, 20-25 years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a stocky build, short hair and tattoos on both biceps. The suspect spoke Chinese dialect, Dongbei Sheng, specific to the North Eastern provinces.

Police said this is not considered a hate crime.  The victim and suspect were strangers to each other.
