PD: Man shot in Tempe, rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries

TEMPE, AZ — A man was been rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being shot in the neck in Tempe Friday night.

According to Tempe police, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a business near University and Hardy drives around 7:30 p.m.

Once on scene, officers found a 48-year-old man who had been shot in the neck. He was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in extremely critical condition, Tempe police say.

According to Tempe police, the investigation into the shooting "revealed that the shooting was not a random act." Police say they believe the shooter specifically targeted the victim.

The suspect has not been identified or located, but police do say there is no immediate threat to the public.
