According to officials, the stabbing happened at a strip mall during a fight between several individuals around 3:15 a.m.

During the fight, 39-year-old John Yanez is accused of accidentally stabbing his son in the back while attempting to stab another person.

At the conclusion of the fight, Yanez and his son went into a taxi cab but were stopped by police near the McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard police station.
