Police say a young man in Tempe was taken to the hospital with a serious gunshot wound after an altercation at an apartment complex.
Friends reportedly took the victim, a man in his twenties, to the hospital and told police he was shot at a complex near Kyrene and Baseline roads around 3 a.m.
Officers are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting, but they say some type of fight broke out between the suspect and a friend of the victim. The victim was trying to chase the suspect, who was fleeing the scene, when he was shot.
Tempe Police have a few people detained, but have not yet taken a suspect into custody.
Police also say a second person suffered a bite injury during the fight.
