Several lanes of Interstate 10 are blocked near University Drive due to a crash involving an overturned dump truck and a passenger vehicle.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, citing preliminary information, said the dump truck possibly crossed over several lanes of traffic from the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 into the westbound lanes, where it then struck a passenger vehicle.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was reportedly trapped inside their vehicle and injured, a spokesperson for DPS said. The extent of that driver's injuries is unclear. The status of the driver of the dump truck was also not immediately clear.

Video from ADOT cameras and aerial video showed an overturned dump truck on top of the dividing median with its contents on the roadway. It also appeared that the cab of the dump truck was disconnected from the rest of the rig.

Debris was seen scattered across the freeway. Traffic, however, was open in both directions.

No further details were immediately released.
