The Arizona State University Police Department announced Wednesday that the school has banned hoverboards campus wide.

The ban is effective immediately and the department says violators will be handled administratively through the dean's office.

Police say the school is committed to the well-being of students, faculty, and staff and says the ban is being put in place because of recent fire hazards connected with the hoverboards.
