The Pinal County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 40-year-old San Tan Valley man for the physical abuse of an 11-year-old family member.

Mark Clark, Public Information Officer, says Timothy Barnett is a registered sex offender and was arrested for striking the victim with his hand several times.
The bruising and swelling on the victim’s arm and face was noticed by a teacher and was reported to PCSO.
Barnett was arrested later that day at his home in the 1600 block of E. Chelsea Drive, said Clark.
Sheriff Paul Babeu said, “the suspect had hit her the prior evening with an open hand several times. When interviewed, the suspect told the deputy that he hit the girl because he has problems controlling his anger.”
PCSO is checking with Alaska authorities to see if this incident violates the conditions of Barnett's sex offender status.
