Mesa police said a Valley woman took action to help catch a bike thief.

ABC15 first reported about a stolen vintage bike on New Year’s Eve. The bike was taken from St. Vincent De Paul in Apache Junction, and the case garnered lots of attention after the charity posted about the crime on their Facebook page.

A Good Samaritan, who asked not to be identified, said she recognized the bike while she was out shopping at Walmart several days later. She snapped a photo of the bike and the man who was riding it and then called police.

"It was so original-looking. That's what caught my eye. If it was just a normal bike I would not recognize it all," she said.

Police arrested 22-year-old Michael Henderson who they said admitted to stealing the bike.

The manager at St. Vincent De Paul said the bike was returned to them and has since been sold.
