Authorities say a man has been taken into custody after a domestic violence call turned into a barricade situation in a county island in the southeast Valley.

Maricopa County deputies responded to a home near Crismon and University around 2 p.m. Sunday. A man was inside a home and refused to come out.

When asked about the domestic violence incident, deputies said the man threatened to take his own life if they entered the home.

"He was threatening to commit suicide and had a piece of glass.  We used a rubber baton round to shoot the glass out of his hand and take him into custody," said Chris Hegstrom, with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Just after 6:30 p.m., MCSO said the suspect has been taken into custody without incident. He was later identified as 21-year-old Jason Talavera.

No other information was immediately available.
