An ex-con pleaded guilty Friday to killing one person and wounding five others in a shooting rampage in the metro Phoenix area that led to a massive manhunt.
Ryan Elliott Giroux changed his plea Friday, a little more than a year after his initial hearing. He pleaded guilty to all 23 charges stemming from the March 2015 shooting spree in Mesa. The charges include first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Authorities say Giroux shot three people at a motel and then another person at a nearby restaurant.
He carjacked a vehicle and then shot two others at two apartment complexes.
Police swarmed the city in a massive response, and a search ended several hours later with Giroux's arrest in a vacant apartment.
Giroux has convictions in three states and spent time in prison in Arizona.
