Police say they are investigating an overnight shooting in Mesa that led to a neighborhood crash.

Officers responded to an injured person call near Gilbert Road and University Drive, but say they never found a victim.

Instead, officers found a vehicle had crashed into a motor home and nearby evidence of a shooting. Neighbors say they heard several shots fired early Wednesday morning.

According to the investigation, several men inside the vehicle were driving to buy a video game console when their vehicle was shot at, causing the driver to lose control and crash into a motor home. Once the sun came up, officers were able to verify bullet holes on the vehicle.

Police say no one was injured, but they're still looking for the shooting suspect.

Crews on scene say the driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody.
