Mesa police have taken over the case of a 1-year-old found unresponsive in a vehicle in Phoenix on Saturday.
Police say 1-year-old Josiah Riggins' dad was driving to a church in Phoenix from Mesa when he realized the baby was still in the car from hours earlier. By the time the dad noticed the boy, the child was already unresponsive.
Mesa police say the baby was left inside the vehicle that was parked at a Mesa apartment complex.
Police are still investigating the incident but say it appears to be an accident. It's unclear who left the child in the car or if any charges will be pursued.
