Three people are in extremely critical condition after a cement truck and two vehicles collided Thursday.
Ken Hall, spokesman for Mesa Fire Department, said both passenger vehicles suffered severe damage and crews had to use special equipment to remove the drivers.
The cement truck overturned on the side of the road near Stapley and Brown.
All three drivers have been taken to level one trauma centers in critical conditions, he said.
Northbound Stapley is closed at Brown while officials investigate and work to clear the scene.
No other details were released.
