A Maricopa County judge is ordering the partial release of police body camera video that shows the deadly shooting of an unarmed man.

The order came Tuesday at the end of a preliminary hearing for Philip Brailsford, a former Mesa police officer. Brailsford faces a second-degree murder charge for shooting Daniel Shaver in a hotel in January. Shaver was unarmed.

According to court testimony, two officers had body camera video from the shooting. The video is about 18 minutes long. It shows the shooting itself from two angles as well as what happened before and after the the officer opened fire.

Judge Sam Myers will have portions of the video redacted.

The judge also affirmed there is probable cause to move toward trial after a two-day preliminary hearing. During that hearing, Mesa officers gave conflicting accounts whether the shooting was justified. Brailsford was fired from the force after being charged in the case.

Brailsford also entered a not-guilty plea in court Tuesday morning.
