GILBERT, AZ — Detectives from the Gilbert and Chandler police departments will be traveling to Salt Lake City Wednesday to meet with other law enforcement agencies at the FBI Field Office.

They will be discussing investigations connected to Lori Vallow Daybell.

Daybell was charged in connection to the disappearance of her two children JJ Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 17. They were last seen in September.

Lori Daybell is an inmate at the Women's Detention Center in Rexburg, Idaho.

A spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff's Office said the only people who can visit her in person are her attorneys and members of the clergy. Sources said she's in a smaller area, but she is not totally isolated.

In an initial appearance last week in Madison County, the judge lowered Daybell's bail from $5 million to $1 million. Daybell could pay that in cash and get out, or use a bonding agent and pay 10%, or $100,000.

"She was smiling when she left the courtroom, so that gives you an indication of what she was feeling," said Josh Garner, an attorney in Rexburg.

Bonding agents and sources in Idaho told ABC15 that Daybell is having trouble finding a bondsman that will post the $1 million bond because they're worried about her flight risk.

The judge also places restrictions if she were to post bond: Daybell has to wear an ankle monitor, she can't leave the four surrounding counties and she has to sign a waiver of extradition.

Garner said the restrictions placed on Daybell's release are rare.

"You don't often see the use of ankle monitors and you rarely see... I mean in my 15 years of doing this I've never, seen a judge restrict travel within a four-county area."

This week, investigators from Arizona and Idaho will be meeting at the FBI Field Office in Salt Lake City to discuss cases that are somehow connected to Lori Daybell.

In July 2019, Lori's brother Alex Cox shot and killed her ex-husband Charles Vallow in their Gilbert home. Cox said it was self-defense, but police are still investigating.

Alex Cox died in Chandler in December. Police said it would take about three months to receive autopsy results, but Tuesday said they haven't received them, and they don't know when they'll come.

Lori's ex-husband Ryan Joseph died of an apparent heart attack in April 2018. Phoenix police confirm that the FBI contacted them regarding his death. Phoenix officials have not re-opened the investigation, but they are in communication with the FBI if they need more from them.

Just outside Rexburg, a few weeks before Chad and Lori got married, Chad's wife Tammy Daybell mysteriously died in their home. Fremont County investigators are also waiting for those autopsy results.

They will be present at the meeting in Salt Lake City.

The two-day preliminary hearing for Daybell is scheduled for March 18 and 19. If the judge rules that the state has enough evidence to proceed, Daybell will be arraigned on the five charges in District Court.
