Three of the four children who were injured in a head-on collision in Sun Lakes on Saturday are now in stable conditions, and one toddler still remains in critical condition.

Two drivers, Guy Gedeon and Maria Santos, were killed in the incident that happened on Riggs Road and Sun Lakes Boulevard, officials said.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, the driver of a white car was driving eastbound on Riggs Road when the man, Gedeon, clipped a silver Durango that sent his car spinning across the median.

The white car then collided head-on with a black Dodge pick-up that Santos was driving.

In the pick-up, there were four children. All four were transported to hospitals. A 2-year-old still remains in critical condition on Sunday. A 6, 9 and 10-year-old are in all in stable conditions, MCSO said.

Investigators are trying to determine if seatbelts were used as well as if alcohol or speed were a factor.

"Because of the scene that we have, I can tell you right now that we are looking at speed," MCSO Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said.
