Chandler police say an arrest has been made in connection with a woman's disappearance in 1987.

Police report that in July of 1987, 22-year-old Donna Mae Jokumsen was living in Chandler with her husband, 23-year-old Kevin Jokumsen.

Donna Mae had reportedly called her father in Washington and said she was returning home with her two children.

After almost a week, Donna Mae never made it to her parent's home which prompted her mother to call Chandler police.

As officers arrived at their home, they located Kevin and their two children, but Donna Mae was missing.

Police say Donna Mae was last seen on July 5, 1987.

The investigation remained open as a missing person case until 2013 when detectives underwent a review of the case with old and new witnesses.

This year, the case was presented to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office who then presented an indictment against Kevin Jokumsen for the murder of Donna Mae Jokumsen.

Kevin Jokumsen was arrested by the Auburn Police Department in Washington on Aug. 31 for a count of second-degree murder.

He's currently being held in county jail awaiting extradition to Arizona.
