Troopers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety searched for a man with outstanding warrants in Tempe on Monday morning.

According to DPS, just before 8 a.m. troopers responded to Interstate 10 and Warner Road to check on reports of homeless people in the area.

Officials say troopers met with three men, one of them was found to have three outstanding felony warrants.

As troopers attempted to take him into custody, he fled on foot.

The suspect was not located after members of the DPS SWAT unit and officers from Tempe police searched the area, including culvert and drainage pipes nearby.

Officials say the suspect is known to police and a follow-up investigation is ongoing.
