CHANDLER, AZ — The Chandler Police Department has partnered with a company to create more ways to contact 9-1-1.
The company, Carbyne, allows people to contact Chandler police using video calls, live chats and be able to send exact location.
Live video calls allow a user to send live video of the situation so that police can help prioritize the emergency. Live chats can be used if a person is either non-verbal, or they are in a situation where they can not speak.
Most 9-1-1 systems can track location from calls but with Chandler PD’s new system, police officials can track precise location even if a person is in motion.
The technology creates a more effective and expedited service to help both the citizens and the police.
According to Carbyne, they have seen a 65% decrease in time from call received to responder dispatch with this service.
