A shoplifting suspect who escaped from a Chandler holding facility has been sentenced to probation.

Maricopa County Superior Court officials say 28-year-old Shane Hoke was sentenced Wednesday to three years of supervised probation for criminal impersonation and a concurrent three years of supervised probation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hoke was an inmate at the Gilbert-Chandler Unified Holding Facility. The city jail houses inmates before possible transfers to the county-run facilities.

Hoke allegedly used a jailhouse phone on Feb. 28 to call Gilbert police dispatch and say he represented the Chandler Records Department.

He allegedly asked to speak with someone at the city jail and informed them that Shane Hoke had posted bond.

Hoke was recaptured March 6 and authorities say he had heroin and prescription pills in his wallet.
