Woman, 73, dies in Phoenix house fire

PHOENIX — A 73-year-old woman is dead after a house fire in Phoenix overnight.

Phoenix police say fire crews were called to a home near 59th Avenue and Thomas Road around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.

Someone arrived on scene and told fire crews, who were extinguishing the blaze, that his mother was inside the home.

Fire officials located the woman inside and she was pronounced dead.

Police say her official cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
