Police: Serious crash in north Phoenix sends 2 to the hospital in critical condition

Two people are hospitalized after a serious crash in north Phoenix Sunday afternoon.

Phoenix police say two cars were involved in a crash near 43rd Avenue and Yucca Street around 2 p.m.

Two people were taken to the hospital; one person was in very serious condition while the other suffered life-threatening injuries, officials confirmed.

The victims, a 62-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, were taken to Thunderbird Trauma Center. 

Police have closed 43rd Avenue between Cholla Street and Peoria Avenue in both directions while they investigate.

Authorities are checking to see if impairment was a factor for one of the drivers.
