PHOENIX — A man has died following a shooting in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.
According to Phoenix police, officers responded to a hotel in the area of Interstate 17 and Peoria Avenue for a report of a shooting and found a man with critical injuries.
The man, later identified as 40-year-old Aaron Townsend, was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.
During their investigation, police determined that Townsend entered a hotel room and demanded money from two men inside. The two men refused to give Townsend money, who then went back outside and pointed a gun at an unknown person. Through the open door, one of the men inside armed themselves and shot Townsend.
Officers interviewed both the men inside the hotel room and several witnesses at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
