A man was taken to the hospital after being shot in west Phoenix Thursday night.
The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Police say the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Officials say he was alert and talking when he was transported.
Authorities are investigating what led up to the shooting. A witness says he heard people fighting and then a loud boom.
There is no suspect information at this time. Police are not identifying the victim at this time.
