PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a motorcycle rider died after jumping a curb and crashing into a pole early Friday morning.
The crash happened on the eastbound Interstate 10 access road between 59th and 67th Avenues.
Police say the rider, identified as 36-year-old Pedro Ibarra, hit a curb, drove onto an adjacent dirt field, and hit a light pole.
Paramedics pronounced Ibarra deceased at the scene. A police spokesman says he was wearing a helmet and speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
The area was closed for several hours while police investigated, but has since reopened.
