A man is dead after being struck by two cars in west Phoenix, just an hour after a separate deadly crash was reported involving a teenage pedestrian

Police were called to the area of 51st Avenue and McDowell Road around 10:30 p.m. Friday after receiving reports of an accident.

Witnesses told investigators that the man was crossing McDowell Road mid-block when he was hit by a blue SUV heading east, officials said. The SUV continued driving after the accident.

Shortly after the victim was hit, a second car struck the man who was still in the road, a police spokeswoman said. The second car also left the crash scene but was followed by a witness who located the abandoned vehicle shortly after.

The victim died at the scene. Family identifies the victim as Lorenzo Davis Jr. A GofundMe has been set up in his name to help the family with funeral expenses.

An investigation remains ongoing at this time. Anyone with information is urged to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
