Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit crossing the street Monday evening.
A Phoenix police spokesman says the pedestrian ran into the roadway in the middle of the block near 35th and Northern avenues, where he was struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police said the driver was not impaired and speed was not a factor in the crash.
The crash closed Northern Avenue from 33rd to 35th Avenue while police investigated.
