Phoenix Police: Boy struck by car, taken to hospital with serious injuries

PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian at 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road Sunday afternoon.

Police say the victim is a boy, between 10 and 12 years old, who was hit while walking out from the crosswalk on Bethany Home Road. He was taken to the hospital with very serious injuries. 

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene after the crash and impairment doesn't appear to be a factor at this time, according to police.

The intersection of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road is restricted at this time. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
