A 2-year-old boy that was found in a west Phoenix pool on Monday night has passed away.

Firefighters were called to a home near 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road Monday night after receiving 911 calls.

According to authorities, crews were at the scene performing CPR before the child, identified as Kevin Miranda, was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremely critical condition. On Tuesday afternoon, the boy was pronounced dead.

The child's family lives in the neighborhood, however, the home where the near-drowning happened at was not the family's home. The boy's father pulled him out of the water.

Police said the pool was not in any condition to swim in, so the visiting family was unable to get into the water; however, the child slipped into the pool at some point. There was also no fence around the pool.
