PHOENIX — Two people have died after being hit by a car while riding a motorcycle near 31st Avenue and Indian School Road Sunday afternoon.
Phoenix police say the two motorcyclists, a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been identified as Jessie Andrade and Aracely Arvizu-Hernandez.
Police say a Ford F150 collided with a Suzuki Motorcycle at approximately 1:54 p.m.
Andrade was the driver of the motorcycle and was heading westbound on Indian School Road. As they approached the intersection of 31st Avenue, they switched to the middle lane when a pickup truck, driven by a 25-year-old male, was facing eastbound in the intersection. As the light turned yellow, a vehicle heading westbound in the inside lane and a westbound vehicle in the curb lane came to a stop.
When the motorcyclist switched lanes, they collided with the pickup in the intersection. Both Andrade and the passenger Arvizu-Hernandez were then transported to a nearby hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The driver and the 34-year-old male passenger in the pickup truck were uninjured as a result of the crash.
