PD: Man skateboarding near 67th Avenue and Thomas struck, hospitalized

PHOENIX — A 19-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck while skateboarding in West Phoenix on Friday night.

Phoenix police now say the teen is in extremely critical condition with "numerous injuries" following the crash.

According to Phoenix police, the 19-year-old was struck near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road around 6 p.m. by a Jetta traveling westbound on Thomas Road.

Witnesses reportedly told police the skateboarder "rode out into the roadway in front of the vehicle."

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.

Authorities say impairment nor speed appear to have played a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
