A food vendor is in serious condition after being shot several times in west Phoenix Monday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. near 38th Avenue and Thomas Road.
Witnesses tell police that a black male yelled at the man to give him his money and then someone fired at the victim several times.

Police say the suspects, a man and two women, took off in a silver Pontiac.
Officers found the car near 47th and Virginia avenues and the man ran off. The women stayed inside.
Authorities found the male suspect hiding in an alley under a mattress.
The victim and suspects are not being identified at this time.
