PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating after a man was shot in west Phoenix Saturday evening.
The shooting occurred at around 6:55 p.m. near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Police say when they arrived on the scene, they did not find a victim, but were then notified that a 24-year-old man was dropped off at a nearby hospital.
The man has life-threatening injuries.
Detectives say two men were traveling westbound on Interstate 10 when they were involved in a traffic altercation with unknown subjects in a gray passenger car.
Both the victim and suspect vehicles exited on 67th Avenue. While stopped in traffic, a man fired a handgun into the victim's vehicle.
The 24-year-old driver was struck. The passenger was not injured and drove the victim to a nearby hospital.
