Man hospitalized after tree rescue in west Phoenix

A man was taken to the hospital after being rescued from a tree in west Phoenix on Sunday afternoon. 

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, crews were called to an area near 40th Avenue and Van Buren Street for a man who was trimming a tree 50 feet in the air when the palm canopy fell and incapacitated him. 

Firefighters used a ladder truck to reach the man, who was not breathing and did not have a pulse after being rescued. 

The man was taken to the hospital where his condition is not known at this time. 

Fire officials say crews were able to reach the man and extricate him to the ground 13 minutes after arriving on the scene.
