A hit-and-run crash in west Phoenix killed one 65-year-old man after he was taken to a hospital.
According to Phoenix police, Jose Vera was hit by a vehicle at 43rd and Whitton avenues early Saturday morning. Vera was taken to a hospital for treatment but later died.

Police say the man was leaving The Office Bar with a group of people when he walked diagonally across 43rd Avenue and was struck by a van-like vehicle. Police say the suspect vehicle is a gray or silver Dodge Caravan-like car that has the driver's side head lamp out. The vehicle and the group of people he was with fled from the scen.

Police say the man lives in the area and was just trying to get home.
The roadways will remain closed as the investigation continues.
