Police are investigating after two men were found dead with gunshot wounds in south Phoenix.

The incident happened on Monday morning near 27th Avenue and Broadway Road.

Phoenix police say a 30-year-old man and a 47-year-old man were found dead with apparent gunshot injuries.

During the investigation, authorities were contacted by a man in Glendale claiming to be involved in the shooting. Detectives detained a suspect and determined he and the victims knew each other and the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute.

26-year-old Manuel Orejel was booked into jail on two counts of first-degree murder.
