A suspect opened fire, striking and injuring a man, after trying to steal a vehicle in south Phoenix.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, around 9:15 p.m. a man and woman were sitting in a vehicle near 7th Street and Baseline Road when a man approached them and demanded the keys to their car.
Police say the man inside the car got out of the vehicle and tried going inside a mobile home when the suspect began to attack him.
Police say the suspect then pulled out a handgun and opened fire on the man. The victim was taken to a hospital where he is expected to recover.
Police describe the suspect as an African-American man between the ages of 30 and 40.
