Police are working to confirm whether an early morning shooting is connected to an overnight triple shooting in south Phoenix.

Officers said three men were shot, two fatally, near 28th Street and Broadway Road on Thursday night.

Police responding to a shots-fired call near 24th Street and Broadway on Friday morning say they found shell casings on the road and a black Mercedes SUV that was shot several times.

While police were on scene, they received reports of a 33-year-old man who showed up at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

The man reportedly went door-to-door looking for help after being shot and someone picked him up and took him to the hospital. He is in critical condition, police say.

Police are expected to remain on scene for several hours while they determine whether the Friday morning shooting is connected to Thursday night's triple shooting.

The shot-up vehicle belongs to an elderly couple who is not believed to be involved in any of the overnight crime scenes.

No suspect information has been released, and at this point, police do not believe it is connected to the ongoing serial street shootings investigation.
