A pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car in Phoenix early Sunday morning.
Police responded to the area of 24th Street and South Mountain Avenue around 12:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an accident in the area.
According to authorities, a 42-year-old man was crossing the street mid-block when he was hit by a car driving northbound.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation, a police spokesperson said. Neither speed nor impairment appear to have been factors in the accident.
Phoenix police are reminding people to always use crosswalks, look both ways before entering the street and never assume drivers see you in the road.
