A traffic stop turned into a tense SWAT standoff in south Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

A neighborhood near 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road was put on lockdown for more than an hour, as police surrounded the landscaping truck where the suspect refused to get out of.

ABC15 viewer video shows the whole situation going down around 10:30 a.m.

In it, a lone Phoenix police officer is seen holding the suspect, wanted for felony warrants, at gunpoint.

Phoenix police say the suspect wouldn’t give up, and held crews at bay for more than an hour.

SWAT teams arrived and had their guns drawn.

One family had to be evacuated during the SWAT standoff. They told ABC15 the suspect is their landscaper.

"You get a lot of people in these areas; they'll knock on your door, just for the service,” Mattie Elliott said.

“They have business cards and everything, he looked like a legit guy," Elliott said. “It wasn't really true, and he had warrants, he was trying to run from the police."

Officials eventually got cuffs on the suspect, and he was loaded into an ambulance.

Police said the suspect was wanted on at least six warrants from all over the Valley.
