PHOENIX — A shooting involving police is under investigation near 19th Avenue and Indian School Road.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, it happened just before 6:00 a.m. Friday when officers saw a man and woman fighting.

Police say when they approached the man, he took off running and pulled out a gun.

He refused to stop and led officers on a foot pursuit through a parking lot toward traffic near 19th Avenue. Authorities said that's when officers shot the man.

The 35-year-old man, who was later identified by police as 35-year-old Brian Streeter, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition. As of November 25, Streeter remains hospitalized.

Both officers involved have two years of experience with the Phoenix Police Department.

Today's shooting marks the 42nd officer-involved shooting in the Valley in 2020. Last year, in 2019, ABC15 recorded a total of 40 officer-involved shootings.
